Personal Life
I live in Chesterfield with my husband, Rich. We celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary on August 2nd! He is an Vice President of Operations at Polyonics in Westmoreland, NH. We are so proud of our spectacular kids; Richie, UNH Graduate Student and Lonza Biological, Inc. Controls Engineer, Thomas, KSC Junior studying Music Education, and Emma, UNH Freshman studying Nursing! Their individual personalities are the heart of the Randall family. We enjoy family time watching movies at home, going camping, hiking, biking, traveling, kayaking, golfing, and going on adventures, like living in England for a year! I also have a brother, Jeremy, who keeps us all laughing. Both as teachers themselves, my parents are the inspiration behind my teaching career. Again this year, my dad is looking down again from heaven as I follow in his footsteps teaching Kindergarten! Both my mom and mother-in-law are inspirational women and I love them so dearly. Lastly, our calico baby Bella has filled our hearts! |
My professional history |
Professional Life
I attended the University of New Hampshire, where I studied Biology for my first two years of college. After reassessing my education and my plans for my future, I decided to follow my heart and study to become a teacher. I attended Fitchburg State College and received a B.S. in Elementary Education with a double major in History in 1996. I taught in the Winchendon Public School district for several years as a Title I teacher and a classroom teacher of grades 1-3. While teaching in Winchendon, I received my Masters of Education, in Curriculum and Instruction with a Specialization in Creative Arts in Learning from Lesley University in 2000. This is a fancy term for arts integration and also what we now refer to as Multiple Intelligences and Differentiation. After a few years off to raise my children, I restarted my career at Chesterfield School. I worked as a Paraprofessional in the Title I department for the three years and spent five years teaching Middle School Science. This year will be my sixth consecutive year teaching Kindergarten at Chesterfield School. I am the recipient of the Lisa K. Henkel Award for Excellence in Inclusion, 2014. This award is awarded to an SAU 29 general education classroom teacher, or teaching team who show particular dedication to inclusion of students with disabilities in the general education curriculum and instruction and within their general education classroom. I am still humbled by this award, years later! I am a dedicated participant in the Destination Imagination program. I have volunteered as a team manager for many years and in 2010 and 2011 served as the Chesterfield Destination Imagination Coordinator. I have even journeyed to Global Finals in Knoxville, TN, THREE TIMES! I am also a member of the school’s Leadership Team. I am a lifelong learner with training in Responsive Classroom and Developmental Design techniques and many workshops about Differentiation, Response to Instruction (RtI), Cultural RtI, Language Arts, and Science Literacy. I had the privilege of being part of the Plain Talk Literacy Fellowship Program through the Center for Development and Learning. Currently I serve as Chesterfield School's Keene State College Student Teacher Co-Supervisor. I enjoy fostering a love of teaching and sharing with our youngest professionals the best practices and strategies to guide student success in the classroom. This role allows me to reflect and polish my own practices on a daily basis. I also am a new teacher mentor for our school and have been the K-2 Instructional Team Leader. Lastly, I am a member of Chesterfield School's Outdoor Education Committee. Our work documented in a movie created by Antioch University's Chris Hardee, entitled Turning School Inside Out. I have served on many conference panels to discuss this movie, our school's journey, and my educational philosophy about outdoor education. We are committed to Forest Fridays in Kindergarten and outdoor learning has transformed our programing! I am so very excited to be in the primary wing of our awesome school. I am a firm believer in professional growth and know that new teaching experiences help develop me into a better teacher. It keeps my passion alive and I am ready for any new challenge! |
